Cuevas de San Marcos, Malaga, Andalucia
Cuevas de San Marcos is a small friendly “pueblo blanco” located on the edge of the Subbetica National Park and a longish walk or very short drive to the Iznajar Lake (sometimes referred to by UK TV presenters for no discernable reason whatsoever as the “Lake of Andalucia” as if there weren’t any others!).
So the setting is attractive but is it isolated? Not at all. As the road system of Andalucia continues to improve access to the Costa, the airports at Malaga and Granada and the comprehensive local shopping centres of Antequera and Lucena becomes easier. When the new Cordoba to Malaga airport is completed Malaga airport will be less than 45 minutes away!
Talking about how you can get to other places probably isn’t the best way to sing a village’s praises! Cuevas is however a full service pueblo with shops, daily produce market, bars, restaurants, hotels, banks and of course schools and discos (happily thoughtfully located on the outskirts). And talking of outskirts, if you come in on either road from the Antequera – Cordoba highway don’t let first impressions put you off! At first sight the village looks a bit of a dump but I reckon that is a clever plot to ensure that the uninitiated drive straight past, leaving the attractive olf heart of the pueblo undisturbed!
The biggest asset of Cuevas san Marcos however is the people. They are very welcoming and the large British community in the town gets on well with their neighbours. You are therefore assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
To find out more, get in touch or arrange a visit. We always have the best seletion of houses for sale in the pueblo!
